NATURE AND HISTORY
Pays du Der is situated in Champagne, near the Lac du Der, a large lake covering 4.8 ha. . Here the oak tree is king (der means ‘oak’ in the Celtic language) and the unique architectural style of the area, based on a combination of timber and cob, is a result of this.
In addition to a history of ornamental casting, this area of wooded countryside (known as the bocage champenois) is home to extraordinary heritage and preserved nature and is a paradise for birds.
With its lake and ponds, meadows and woodland, Pays du Der is an incredible haven for fauna and flora and offers wonderful surroundings for walks, as well as countless other activities.
Many events take place around the year : jazz festival, equestrian events, horse races, International Festival of Animal and Nature Photography, concerts…
Whatever the season, let yourself be enchanted by the authentic character of Pays du Der!
